Add Rates

Follow these steps to add rates to an existing rate structure. If you need to create a new rate structure for a project, see Create a Rate Structure. These steps assume you are entering rates for the default Basic rate class. If you have defined alternate rate classes, select the applicable rate class row to enter your rates.

  1. Select Project Data > Rates in the Navigation Menu. The Manage Rates tab window displays.
  2. Click on the Structure [Select] dropdown in the Ribbon Menu and select the rate structure you want from the list.
  3. Select the Rate Groups tab. The top left pane displays the list of Rate Groups. The top right pane displays the list of Rate Classes. The bottom right pane displays the list of effective dates and Rates for the selected Rate Group row and selected Rate Class row.
  4. In the top left Rate Groups pane, select a new row. Enter a Group name and Description.

    Tips:

To save time, enter your list of Rate Group names, save the list, then add the rates for each row.

Where applicable, use Result names for the Group names for consistency. For example, if you created a Result named "LABOR_OH," create a matching Rate Group named "LABOR_OH."

Consider how you intend to apply labor rates. When a resource name is defined in the resource structure, in instances where the Rate Group name and the Resource name match, the Rate Group is automatically assigned to the resource.

  5. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu.
  6. Select the Group row you want in the top left pane.
  7. Add the effective date and rate in the bottom right Rates pane. You have two options to do this.

Option 1 - Enter the effective date and rate manually. In the Rates pane:

  1. Select a new row. Enter or select a rate effective Date and enter a Rate value.
  2. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu when you have completed setting up the rates for the Group row.

Option 2 - Use the generate rates Wizard. In the Rates pane:

  1. Click Generate Rates. A Generate Rates dialog box displays.
  2. Select the Mode from the dropdown. Select either Fixed Value Change or Fixed % Change. See the steps below on how to use the Full Time Equivalent Mode.
  3. Enter or select a Start Date.
  4. Enter a Start Value.
  5. Enter a Value Change or % Change depending on the Mode you selected.
  6. Enter a number of Decimal Places. This determines the level of precision for the generated rates. The default is 2.
  7. Select the desired Apply Each option from the dropdown. The options are Period, Quarter, or Year.
  8. Click OK. The rates are generated for you and display in the Rates pane.
  9. Optional. Review the generated rates. Click Generate Rates again as needed to change your settings and regenerate the rates.
  10. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu when you have completed setting up the rates for the Group row.
  1. Optional. Close the Manage Rates tab.

Follow these steps to set up Full Time Equivalent (FTE) rates.
